The Second wave of gambling which has three eras. The first era or the Gold Rush Era, the advent of California Gold Rush in San Francisco, the town became popular with aspiring prospectors. In 1850s, the had overtaken then New Orleans from being the gaming capital of US. The gambling laws and policies progressively strengthened. On the second era, it is the reconstruction era wherein lotteries and gambling was temporarily reactivated mostly in the South. US gambling was randomly outlawed through out the US. Gambling become illegal activity helping to stimulate the growth of the Mafia and other organized crime. Though, upon strict prohibition of gambling, it became extremely popular. On the third era or the prohibition era, during this era, liquor provided an additional revenue flow for crowd figures and organized crime increased. Due to the great depression, government saw the legalization of gambling to allow churches and other groups to raise revenues but most gambling stays illegal.


On the third and last wave, beginning from 1931 and up to the present where online casino is now on the rise. This is the time when gambling in most states such as Nevada, New New Jersey, Louisiana and Michigan slowly become legalized. In 20th century online casino exploded in popularity and is now also in hot water.
